What Is the Grade Calculator?
The GradePilot Grade Calculator converts your raw scores into a percentage, letter grade (A+ through F), and GPA equivalent — instantly, as you type. It supports two input modes: By Points (enter what you scored out of a possible total) and By Percentage (enter your grade as a percentage directly). You can add up to 8 assignments in a single calculation, and the calculator intelligently aggregates them into one overall score.
This tool is ideal for students who want to know exactly where they stand before getting official marks back. It uses the standard US grading scale adopted by the majority of high schools, colleges, and universities.
Grade Calculation Formula
The formula behind every calculation is straightforward:
For percentage mode, multiple entries are averaged equally. This is appropriate when each score represents work of equal weight. If assignments have different weights, use the Weighted Grade Calculator instead.
Example Calculation
📝 Example: Three Assignments
Quiz 118 / 20
Homework45 / 50
Midterm74 / 100
Total137 / 170
Final Grade80.6% — B−
Notice that the midterm has a larger total (100 pts) so it has more influence on the final grade than the quiz — this is the correct aggregate behaviour, not a simple average of three percentages.
