What Is Points-Based Grading?
Points-based grading assigns a specific point value to each assignment, quiz, or test. Your final grade is calculated by dividing your total points earned by the total points possible across all assignments. It's the most straightforward grading system used in US and UK schools.
Unlike weighted grading (where each category has a percentage weight), points-based grading treats each point equally — a 10-point quiz and a 100-point exam each contribute exactly their point value to your total.
